ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Town of Gaines is updating its zoning regulations. The Town’s current regulations were initially adopted in 1983 and have been amended several times since then.

A comprehensive review and update will:

-
Ensure consistency with the Town’s recently adopted Comprehensive Plan
-
Remove inconsistencies with NYS laws and other government regulations
-
Improve clarity and ease of administration

The zoning update will codify the Town’s policies regarding land development in various areas of the Town:

-
along State highways where commercial development may be appropriate;
-
in rural and agricultural areas of the Town; and
-
within traditional hamlets and historic districts.
